National OOTD Day

National OOTD Day: How it started and how it’s going

What makes you feel great and confident is what you should wear today and every day. So pull out your SIGNATURE pieces and let us celebrate the day in grand style. What day is it? National OOTD Day!

OOTD means Outfit-Of-The-Day, a short form that originated on social media and has come to take on a life on its own, reminding us to put our best outfit forward as we step out today. The OOTD has become so important for men and women across the globe, and what started as a hashtag has become a national holiday. Wait, a national holiday? Come, let’s find out how it all started.

History — How it started

National OOTD Day was created by popular American influencer and reality TV star Stassi Schroeder in 2018 based on her favorite hashtag #OOTD. According to Stassi, the day is more than just making a fashion statement but a day to inspire you and me to wear clothes that make us feel good about ourselves because when we feel good, our confidence triples and we can cultivate a positive aura around us. She said, “When you have a great outfit on, your day is that much better, and in my opinion, you should honor that feeling with an OOTD — which is why I created National OOTD Day!”

June 30 proclamation - OOTD

OOTD’s shouldn’t be too complex; all you have to do is dedicate a few extra minutes each day to a SIGNATURE outfit that makes you feel comfortable yet confident all day. Stassi feels that even if everything around you is falling apart, dressing like everything is perfect would impact your perception and the way you feel. The world doesn’t necessarily have to know you’re having a bad day. Call it a facade; I call it a survival instinct.

But it doesn’t stop there for the National OOTD Day.

Update — A National Holiday?

Holiday

Imagine June 30th every year as a national holiday for National OOTD Day. Stassi, as part of her branding moves, spent a sizeable sum of $40,000 to make the National OOTD Day a national holiday. However, she has several things to say about this decision of hers.

She declared it a waste of money and decided “never to just throw away money to have a holiday.” But what went wrong? The straw that broke the camel’s back was that the hefty fee only covered the day for one year. She said, “You own it for a year and I didn’t know that. So next year came around, and they were like: ‘Alright you gotta pay for it again’”. Stassi utterly refused to make the lifetime commitment of spending every year for a national holiday.

Anyways, Schroeder’s National OOTD Day celebration was documented in a January 2019 episode of her hit Bravo show. So while we don’t have our National OOTD holiday, we can still celebrate it in our unique ways.

How to celebrate National OOTD Day

National Outfit-of-the-Day is a light-hearted event encouraging you to share your incredible fashion choices and style. Here are some ideas to get involved and celebrate the day:

  • Dress to impress: to honor the day, take some extra time (make sure you’re not running late) to get dressed in your favorite SIGNATURE pieces. It could be a work outfit or a casual outfit perfect for an evening date or hangout.
  • Make a post: Share your outfit on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook with the hashtag #NationalOOTDDay or #OOTD. You can also write a brief story about the significance of your outfit and why you chose it.

Don’t let this day pass by like that. So whether this day falls on a Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday, give your OOTD the best shot with our SIGNATURE pieces and go conquer the world.
